Pick and Place Gantry

  • Demonstrates high speed motion at 1.5m/s 1G, high precision motion with repeatability of 50 micron
  • Picks and place rectangular aluminum pieces using vacuum
  • PZR is a rotary and linear motor designed for Z-axis
  • PZR picks (linear) and rotate the aluminum pieces in one compact form

Tracing Gantry

  • Simulates a motion control application such as laser cutting and glue dispensing
  • 3 types of interpolation and hence motion, are demonstrated:
    • linear interpolation for straight lines
    • circular interpolation for arcs
    • cubic spline interpolation for complex shapes
  • The plate mounted on the gantry has shapes engraved
  • A drill bit is sunk into the grooves of the engraving, and it traces out the shapes
  • If the motion is not precise, the drill bit will break
  • The trajectories has sharp corners
  • 30 micron repeatability running with a smooth motion at velocity of 80 mm/s
  • Capable of moving at higher speeds of 0.1 – 0.5m/s for trajectories with no sharp corners
